Este trabajo describe de manera breve y concisa los alcances de la electrocardiografía de ata definición y los aspectos básicos del desarrollo de esta tecnología en un equipo específico desarrollado entre la Universidad de Los Andes de la República de Venezuela y el Instituto de Bioingeniería de la UTN-Mendoza-Argentina.
Resumen.
Mortality due to ischemic heart disease and stroke is estimated to increase by
approximately 145 percent among men and women in Latin America from 1990 to 2020, as
compared with a 28 percent increase for women and a 50 percent increase for men over the
same period in developed countries. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents one-third of
chronic disease deaths in the region which also has the burden of Chagas, malnutrition and
others diseases which affect directly the health of heart. Despite the high burden of CVD, most
health resources in these countries are dedicated to communicable diseases and maternal-child
health conditions and there is not a great attention to this problem. This paper presents the
design of a network of telemedicine which is applied to diagnostic of CVD through high
definition electrocardiography and wireless transmission. Early diagnosis of heart failure is
essential for successfully addressing underlying diseases ant it is the main goal of this work that
also is a collaborative project between Venezuelan and Argentina Universities.
